Behind me is Murchison Falls

This lion was very happy to pose for us for quite some time.

I'm loving this!

Wow the past few weeks have gone by very fast. I can now say that I am finally feeling settled in and comfortable living here in Africa. In saying that each day is filled with new challenges to overcome, challenges that really stretch you to the point of learning the importance of finding your strength in God and God alone. It has truly been a joy being able to work daily with the nannies at Watoto their faith and love for God is shown in the way they love and care for the children at the babies home each and every day. Being able to be a part of the lives of these little ones alongside these nannies still blows me away and I am loving every minute of it.
This past weekend I went on Safari what an experience! I was able to see lions, elephants, giraffe, hippos, wort hogs and so many more beautiful animals. It was such a relaxing weekend and really gave me a chance to re-energize myself after the first few weeks of getting used to the culture and routine here. I have so many amazing photos and as soon as I learn how to post them on this blog I will LOL!
I miss you all so much and can't wait to hear from you again.
Be blessed and talk to you soon.

Week one.

I’ve already been living in Africa for one week!! This week has totally been a roller-coaster of emotions as well as filled with heaps of new experiences. The babies are absolutely amazing I still can’t believe that I get the opportunity to be apart of their lives even if it is for a short time. Today I was working with the clinic babies which are babies that have come to Watoto malnourished or with other diseases. This proved to be a challenge because many times although the child is hungry it won’t eat because of the pain so many are fed through a tube which is hard to see but is a necessity. At the babies home you get thrown right into the duties as well as the care of the babies, I have done pretty much everything including taking babies to get vaccinations. I’m loving what I am doing. That said it is defiantly not easy to live here culture shock is very difficult but with the strength of God I will make it though and have already made it past the first week which has been said to be the most difficult to overcome. I feel settled into my house with the four other ladies that share it with and am looking forward to what God has in sort for me. I miss you all so much and love you even more.
Talk to you again soon.

I'm here!!! Oh my goodness!!

I've been in Africa now for three days! What a culture!! There are so many new things that I have to get used to including transportation!! I have been working with the babies now since day one and I am loving it so much. I was able to take a baby with me to church as well as to the mall and for lunch. There are about thirty babies at the home that I am at all with various hardships and troubles but each of them have a smile that takes my breath away! I am not able to put pictures up of the babies unless I get permission from Watoto so there may be some coming in the following blogs. I miss you all so much and can't wait to hear from you. Please feel free to email me anytime I love being able to feel connected to you all.
Talk to you all again soon.
Be blessed.
